Working at ConneXions


Professional Development

Professional development at ConneXions serves multiple purposes: rejuvenating staff, improving instruction, advancing whole-school initiatives, providing professional growth and sharing best practices. Each Wednesday, two hours are designated specifically for professional development and staff building. During this time staff either meet as a whole school and then in departments. Staff are also encouraged and supported to participate in individual development either by attending conferences, and workshops or taking college/graduate courses.

Steering Committee

As a teacher-led school, teachers are an important part of the decision making process at ConneXions. Teachers at ConneXions help drive the focus of the school and ensure that students have the resources necessary. Any staff member can join the Steering Committee once they have been at the school for a full semester and have attended the majority of steering committee meetings.

Instructional Committee

The mission of the Instructional Committee is to share communication with the whole school on initiatives that will help build capacity in all staff to reach school-wide goals. With the current focus on the Common Core Initiative, the instructional committee aims to help align the school's practice to ensure students meet these literacy standards.
